At the beginning of the 20th century, Henri Dugas (great great grandfather of the present owner) and his brother Nazaire, studied architecture in Montréal. During this time they also worked on Notre-Dame cathedral. Nazaire became the first Acadian architect, and the two brothers became the first in Acadia to construct buildings from detailed architectural plans.

Built in 1926 by Henri Dugas, the Maison Touristique Dugas was part of an imposing domain, which included a wood mill, a flourmill, a wood shingles mill, a sawmill and an industry which manufactured doors and windows. Unfortunately, fired destroyed most of the domain leaving only the main house and the barn.

While exploring the main house, one can appreciate the quality of the construction and the materials used to build the home. The original oak woodwork and fine moulding as well as the wooden straircase are admired by all who visit the house, all of which were built in the workshops of the mill belonging to Henri.
